Program
Overview
Simply
stated, The Exchange, is
a call to the highest point
for progressive educators
and parents to celebrate
our work and to be a pioneer
in grassroots educational
policy. The Exchange will
be the melting pot for developing
effective strategies to change
policy at the local, state
and federal levels that reflects
authentic learning experiences
which will empower students
and enable educators to creatively
draw forth greatness and
help students hone and craft
their respective gifts and
talents for the good of the
world.
What’s
in a Name?

of merchants or lenders
meeting to exchange
bills of debt led to
meaning “building
for mercantile business” (1859).
Summit: Sommette
:
diminutive of som. sum :
the
highest point or part,
as of a hill. summus : highest,
related to super “over”.
Program
Goals
(1) To serve as the
market place where funds of
knowledge are exchanged for
ideas, concepts and are translated
into curriculum and research
policy.
(2) To
ensure that all students
have access to a “complete
education,” one
that enables them to fully
operate in their gifts and
talents.
(3) To
honor, respect
and appreciate teachers,
administrators and school
communities who reflect
the
core principles of The
Exchange.
Core
Principles
The Core Principles
of the program are founded
on the work of Paulo Frèrie,
bell hooks & W.E.B
Dubois. Essentially we believe
in the libratory purpose of
education, to liberate the
minds of students. Concepts
of Freedom, Justice, Creativity & Spirituality
are the essence of the program.
